Our strategic sustainability outlook is based on the 'triple bottom line' of economic, environmental and social performance, which is reported annually through the Group Integrated Annual Report. Our Group has understood the importance of identifying and engaging with all relevant stakeholders, further supported through adherence to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI Standards) framework and initiatives aligned to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Demonstrating our commitment to all our stakeholders including the communities and environment in which our businesses operate, we commit a minimum of 1% of our annual profit to corporate social responsibility initiatives through John Keells Foundation. Our focus areas have been classified as Education, Community & Livelihoods, Social Health & Cohesion, and Biodiversity while our CSR projects and initiatives are in keeping with our CSR vision of ‘Empowering the Nation for Tomorrow’ and aligned to national priorities, Sustainable Development Goals and United Nations Global Compact.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

We have always been progressive in our approach towards valuing diversity in our workforce. It is important that Life at JKH, continues to be a place of inclusion, where everyone can be their true selves and where respect and trust is fundamental. We value our people from every ethnicity, race, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, age and ability, and we consistently work towards reinforcing it and celebrating this respect and trust. Our brand ONE JKH consolidates our DE&I initiatives where we focus on increasing female participation in our workforce as we strive towards achieving gender parity, increasing career opportunities for persons with disabilities and ensuring inclusivity of the LGBTIQ+ community.
