The JKH team performed admirably to reach the cup semi-finals in the open competition which boasted many of Sri Lanka’s top players.
Captained by Cinnamon Red’s Sanjula Kalpa a former U-20 Sri Lanka player JKH started off by beating Galadari 6-0 and drawing with Sampath Bank 2-2 to top their group. In the quarter finals they beat Smart Shirts 1-0 which had 3 Sri Lanka National Players in their line up – the solitary goal was scored by Jason Pereira of Whittall Boustead Travels. In the semi-finals against defending champions Expo Lanka JKH started brightly hitting the post in the early stages and dominating the game in the first half before the experienced Expo Lanka took over to win 3-0.
Special mention goes to Rhewin Kumar from Cinnamon Red who had an outstanding tournament and scored 3 goals for JKH.
